Symphony Under the Stars - Port Douglas image

A balmy breeze settles over the palms as stars begin to dot the sky. A buzz of anticipation fills the air. The orchestra take to the stage and breathtaking music erupts…

Experience a magical night under the stars with Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Don’t miss your opportunity to hear world class musicians live on stage, right in the heart of Port Douglas. On the program is music by Beethoven, a sizzling Argentine tango, and the world premiere of a new piece inspired by the Great Barrier Reef. As you sit under the starry sky, the music will whisk away someplace beautiful.

Bring your family and settle in for a spectacular evening. With a backdrop of the Coral Sea, Mossman Gorge and the ancient Daintree Rainforest, this will be an extra special occasion.

Describing his new work, Paul Dean said: “The Great Barrier Reef is undoubtedly one of the wonders of the world, natural or otherwise. Its beauty is endless. The reef is home to an unimaginable amount of sea and plant life and our knowledge of it is still growing by the year.”

“And yet it is in a dangerous place and needs our help and care for its very survival. My new symphony is representative of its vastness, and the sheer miracle of it all. But it also mindful of the precarious state it rests in and the crisis that awaits our urgent attention.”
