The QSO is fully committed to supporting and developing music students of all ages through a diverse education program including live concert performances throughout the state, interactive masterclasses, open rehearsals for teachers and students as well as professional development opportunities for music teachers. We aim to provide live music experiences that complement the school curriculum while inspiring and motivating students and teachers to reach their full potential. Each year the QSO works with over 10,000 students and teachers from right across the State.
We play a vital role in promoting music to metropolitan, regional and rural communities. We present over 100 live performances each year to more than 100,000 people across the State, providing the widest possible access for all Queenslanders to orchestral music. This has a significant impact on the lives of those it reaches.
The QSO also supports special events in and around Brisbane, such as the Brisbane Festival, ANZAC Eve concert at South Bank Piazza, Flood Relief concerts, Queensland Music Festival, and other major events in the life of the State.
