I began clarinet when I was 8 years old and immediately felt an affinity for the instrument and developed a love for orchestral music. After school studies I attended the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and then enjoyed a year of intensive study in Holland. Since 1993 I have been a clarinettist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and am currently Associate Principal Clarinet.

There have been many performance highlights which have allowed me to explore many aspects of music making. Performing at the Australasian Clarinet Conference held in Brisbane, the Townsville Chamber Music Festival and as soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra are definite highlights.

Performing music involves meeting and collaborating with lots of diverse ensembles and musicians. Performances with the Adelaide and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra and the Australian and Queensland Pops Orchestras offered unique experiences with other large ensembles. Chamber music has afforded me opportunities to play and record a wide variety of music with many different and wonderful musicians such as the Southern Cross Soloists, Elision Ensemble, the Queensland Wind Soloists and Topology.

I have a passion for passing on my knowledge and skills, teaching at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University from 1993 – 2017 and regularly working as a tutor with the Queensland Youth Orchestra and the Queensland Education Department.

During the summer months you might chance upon me enjoying the sun and sand while patrolling at Kirra Beach for Surf Lifesaving Queensland.
