Miloš Karadaglić

Now firmly positioned as the leading classical guitarist of his generation, Miloš Karadaglić continues to top the record charts and delight audiences around the world. The Times said of his latest Beatles album, Blackbird: “It is so elegantly executed, and with such a plaintive quality, that it goes beyond ... into something approaching art”.

The London press praised his celebrated Royal Albert Hall recital debut, The Guardian commenting: “More extraordinary by far, however, was the way a single guitarist, playing an intimate and understated set, and equipped with a single microphone and some clever lighting, could shrink the Hall's cavernous space into something so close.” The Independent concluded: “Defying its many critics to offer a dramatic and rounded evening of classical music, the guitar itself was the breakout star here – a sleight of hand that makes Karadaglić not only a magician, but a serious and accomplished musician”.

Whether appearing in major concert halls or in non-traditional venues such as: New York’s Le Poisson Rouge, London’s Camden Roundhouse (iTunes Festival), Paris' Cafe de la Dance, Berlin's Berghein and Deutsche Grammophon’s Yellow Lounge club nights all over the world, Miloš equally enjoys performing for an audience of thousands or in an intimate chamber music space for 100 people.

Miloš' first three releases on "The Yellow Label" achieved major chart successes around the globe and turned him into "classical music's guitar hero" (BBC Music Magazine) overnight. His 2014 recording of Rodrigo's concertos had Sunday Times calling him "The King of Aranjuez". In January 2016, his fourth album, “Blackbird - The Beatles Album” was released to much acclaim. Recorded in the infamous Abbey Road Studio 2, it features classic Beatles songs performed in innovative new arrangements by Sérgio Assad and includes collaborations with the jazz legend Gregory Porter, pop singer Tori Amos, cellist Steven Isserlis and a sitar superstar Anoushka Shankar. On the departure from the core classical repertoire, Miloš said: “Recording this album opened a door into a very different reality. It felt as if I was exploring an alter ego I never knew I had”.

Miloš’ recent touring schedule has seen him make important debuts with some of the world's finest ensembles including the Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. In the current 2015/2016 season, he appears with the Czech, Oslo, London and Munich Philharmonic, in addition to recitals all over continental Europe, the US and the UK. This summer Miloš will also return to the Rheingau and Verbier Music Festivals.

Miloš is a brand ambassador for the luxury Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil. 2014 saw the launch of a new exclusive special edition watch that he personally designed in aid of charity and support to the orphanage "Mladost" in Bijela, Montenegro. A second edition of the watch will be released this year, limited to 50 pieces.
In addition to his charitable work, Miloš is a passionate supporter of music education and acts as a Patron of the Mayor of London Fund for Young Musicians and the Awards for Young Musicians. He is an Ambassador for Live Music Now and the Wigmore Hall's Learning Programme.

In 2014 Miloš recorded music for the soundtrack of the animated movie, When Marnie Was There, for the world-famous Japanese Studio Ghibli. His TV work includes co-presenting the 2014 BBC Young Musician competition, and as a featured mentor on Sky Arts’ reality TV show, “Guitar Star”.

Born in Montenegro in 1983, Miloš first started playing the guitar at the age of 8. When he was 16 he successfully applied for a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music and moved to London where he continues to live while keeping close ties with his family and homeland. He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in 2015. Miloš plays a 2007 Greg Smallman guitar, kindly lent to him by Paul and Jenny Gillham.
