Rachel Pines

Canadian-born soprano Rachel Pines delights audiences in Australia and internationally.

This season Rachel sang Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Miami Music Festival, and Daphne in Handel’s Apollo e Dafne with Brisbane City Opera. Last season Rachel sang Frasquita in Carmen with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute with Gertrude Opera, and Queen of the Night, Lady, and Papagena in The Magic Flute with Opera Australia Victorian Schools Tour. Other recent roles include Despina in Così fan tutte for the Trentino Music Festival, First Lady and Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Mrs Hayes in Susannah for Opera New England, Frankie in Coghlan’s Frankie and Johnny, and Mavis in City Workers in Love with Opera Laurier.

Rachel Pines has toured internationally in concert with The Seven Sopranos, and has created the role of Mary Sullivan in the new musical Songs from Stage and Screen, which she toured for two seasons in New South Wales and Sydney. In concert, Rachel Pines has appeared as a soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra singing the Queen of the Night arias, as well as Brisbane City Opera, Bach Society of Queensland, Brisbane Chamber Choir, and the Brisbane Concert Choir among others. Later this season Rachel Pines looks forward to reprising her role as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute with Brisbane City Opera, and to singing Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos for the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School with Ensemble Q conducted by Simone Young.
