Tchaikovsky Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture
Arensky Fantasia on Russian Themes (after Ivan Ryabinin), Op.48
Tchaikovsky Symphony No.3 Polish
A program no romantic should miss! Shakespeare's play takes almost three hours but in twenty minutes Tchaikovsky distilled the drama and emotion in his Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture as no other composer ever could. Tchaikovsky's Polish Symphony was named for the spectacular polonaise in the finale, but this five-movement work is brimming with other wonderful melodies and great musical ideas from first note to last and everyone who hears it for the first time will want to hear it more often. Tatiana Polyanskaya spices this Russian spectacular with Arensky's colourful Fanstasia on Themes by Ryabinin.
