Dimity Shepherd

Dimity is regarded as one of Australia finest vocal performers being equally at home on the opera, musical theatre and theatrical stages.

Her roles for Opera Australia include Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Rosina in Barber of Seville and the title role in Carmen to which she returned for the company’s national touring production in 2021.

For Opera Queensland she has appeared as Maddalena in Rigoletto, Stephano in Romeo & Juliet and Tisbe in Cenerentola, while her past roles for the State Opera of South Australia have recently included Pearl in Summer of the Seventeenth Doll and Netty Fowler in Carousel.

Extensive appearances for Victorian Opera include Greenroom Award winning performances of Cherubino and of Rebecca in Love in the Age of Therapy and nominations for Lorelei, and Lucy in The Threepenny Opera. Also such roles as Alice in Through the Looking Glass, Nireno in Julius Caesar, Arsamene in Xerxes, Orphee in Orphee & Eurydice and The Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd.

She was also a Greenroom Award winner for Emilia in Melbourne Opera’s 2019 season of Rossini’s Otello and a nominee for Katchen in The Malthouse’ production of The Black Rider.

She created the title role in the premieres of The Ghostwife for the Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, and Barbican BITE O2 festivals and the lead role in Crossing Live for Chamber Made Opera, has been engaged as the vocalist for The Australian Ballet’s production of Anna Karenina and has appeared in concerts with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and for the Sydney Festival.
