Production Manager

An opportunity is available for a skilled Production Manager with strong practical experience to join the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
The primary purpose of the Production Manager role is to manage all technical and physical production requirements of the QSO associated with the preparation and presentation of concerts and orchestral events. Reporting to the Senior Production Manager, this role ensures QSO’s performances and events have fully planned and executed production and technical support. The Production Manager also provides leadership and management to the production crew.
Applicants demonstrating theatre and stage management experience who value doing things the right way, with a focus on quality and efficiency, will be well placed to succeed in the role.
Major Responsibilities for this role are:
Lead on-site delivery of all production operations for QSO Programs.
Develop and manage production logistics for concerts, tours, and special projects, ensuring effective planning, coordination and delivery.
Oversee preparation and maintenance of production documentation including risk assessments, schedules and compliance with WHS policies and procedures.
Provide leadership, guidance and professional development to all QSO production staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Act as the primary production liaison with venues, contractors, and technical suppliers.
Criteria essential to success in this role are:
Experience in industry standard technical production, general production and staging with the orchestral music industry and/or the performing arts industry
Experience in leading, coordinating and managing production crews to build a cohesive and highly functioning team
Experience in managing and monitoring production budgets
Advanced IT literacy across MS Office
Effective personal organisation skills to meet timeframes and budgets
Commitment to continuous improvement and efficiency of processes
Strong ability to collaborate with all members of the organisation in the achievement of QSO strategic objectives
Ability to represent QSO in a professional and ethical manner and build relationships with key stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in compliance with relevant WHS legislation and best practice
Capacity and willingness to work outside of normal business hours on a regular basis
Current “C” Class Driver’s License
