Natalie Low

Natalie Low began her violin studies at the age of seven.

In 2003, she completed her Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree from the Queensland Conservatorium studying under the esteemed violinist and pedagogue, Carmel Kaine. She has since completed a Master in Music (2006) and a Doctor of Musical Arts (2010) from Michigan State University under tutelage of Walter Verdehr.

Natalie is an experienced orchestral musician. Her dream was always to become an orchestral violinist. She started ensemble playing in the Junior String Ensemble at Queensland Youth Orchestra, progressing through to eventually become a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra. She has since played in many professional orchestras, both in the United States and Australia. She was fortunate enough to become a full time member of Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 2013. Nowadays, in addition to her position with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, she frequently tutors the Queensland Conservatorium orchestral violins, and Australian Youth Orchestra second violin sections.

Natalie has played numerous solo recitals both within Australia and the United States. In addition to this, she is also an avid chamber musician. As part of the string quartet “Fyra” she was a finalist in the Australian Chamber Music Competition. From 2004 to 2006, she toured to remote parts of North Queensland with her quartet and didgeridoo player, William Barton as part of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. She continues her love of playing chamber music these days by performing in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Chamber Players concert series.

Natalie favourite orchestral piece is anything/everything Rachmaninov!!
