Lyric Theatre, QPAC

QPAC’s largest and most renowned venue

#The Lyric Theatre is QPAC’s largest venue. It is ideally suited to opera, ballet and large-scale theatre events including musical theatre.

The stunning 2,000 seat Lyric Theatre faces Melbourne Street and boasts city views from the riverside foyer. The theatre is constructed in a traditional horseshoe shape.

The auditorium has continental seating (i.e. row entry from side aisles) with stalls and two levels of balconies. The cross aisle is at level LM. This allows excellent access and seating for wheelchairs and patrons with mobility difficulties.

#Box Office

The Box Office and cloakroom for the Lyric Theatre are located on Level M. Large bags and umbrellas must be left at the cloakroom.

Items larger than A4 must be left at the Cloak Room. Items such as backpacks and oversize items including large handbags and umbrellas present a trip hazard and are not permitted within QPAC theatres.

To avoid delaying your entry to the theatre, we strongly encourage patrons to avoid bringing to QPAC any items larger than an A4 sheet of paper. Backpacks, umbrellas and items – including handbags – larger than A4, must be left at one of our Cloak Rooms.

#Eat and Drink

There are three dining options located on the ground level of QPAC, directly below the Lyric Theatre and moments from your theatre seats. The Lyrebird, Cafe and Bistro are all licensed and have a variety of meals to choose from.

The foyer bar and merchandise stand are located on the Stalls level (Level 2 in the lift). The foyer bar also sells light snacks and there are vending machines for chocolates and other items. An additional bar is located on the balcony level (Level 4)

Check with the bar staff during your visit, but it is usually OK to take drinks into the theatre, as long as they are in plastic cups.

#Toilets

The best toilets for the Lyric Theatre are on Level TM. There are additional toilets on Levels M and 4 and downstairs from Door 5 on the river side of the foyer. Wheelchair accessible toilets are on the ground level and Levels LM, 2 and 4. There are baby change facilities in the toilets on Level TM.
