A Midsummer Night’s Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

When a couple gets hitched in a movie, it’s usually to a soundtrack of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, however he initially wrote it for a play – Shakespeare’s much-loved A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s the icing on the cake of this piece, which also boasts a glimmering fairy march and some tranquil night music. Before you check in to this honeymoon suite though, you’ll hear Beethoven’s Symphony No.8 – a playful work that shows off the composer’s wit and is guaranteed to bring a smile to your heart. Rossini’s feel-good Overture portrays the ridiculous bedroom events from his comic opera about lovers, the ideal way to kick off this delightful concert.
