Matthew Hodge

Matthew Hodge grew up on classical music, but it was when he found an old book on Beethoven symphonies in a dusty second-hand bookstore in Brisbane, his life really changed. He became obsessed with how to get new audiences interested in classical music, and this led him to a radical change of career from property statistics into the classical music business.

Over 16 years, he has worked for three major classical music companies: Musica Viva, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and finally Queensland Symphony Orchestras as Director of Sales and Marketing. Now a fundraiser for a large not-for-profit charity, Matthew is still happy to explain the wonders of Mahler, Bruckner and Beethoven to anyone who will listen.
