Martha Berhane

Martha Berhane is a Canadian-born Eritrean artist who lived her childhood in Dubai before moving to Australia when she was 10. Her dream was to be an Olympic gymnast but when she started doing theatre at high school, she fell in love with the craft.

Martha is a VCA-trained triple threat who’s been performing in Hamilton The Musical since it came to Melbourne in March 2022, as a swing, for all three of the Schuyler Sisters (Angelica, Peggy, and Eliza). She would eventually take over the role of Eliza – Alexander Hamilton’s wife – in October of the same year. The hit show is Martha’s first professional musical and she went on to perform the role of Eliza Hamilton in the Brisbane and New Zealand seasons.

Among various TVC advertising and music videos, Martha’s television credit includes the ABC series Mustangs FC, and the short film Wilco directed by Will Storr.
