Curtain Call: Chamber Players 1

An exciting start to the 2026 Chamber Players series...

On Sunday 26 April, members of Queensland Symphony Orchestra performed to a sold-out studio audience for their first concert of the 2026 Chamber Players series.

The intimate, musician-led concerts are always a highlight of the season, and this performance was no exception. QSO musicians Gregory Lee (Violin 1), Mia Stanton (Violin 1), Nicole Greentree (Viola), Isaac Davis (Associate Principal Cello), Matthew Kinmont (Cello), Sonia Wilson (Violin 1) and Ashley Carter (Associate Principal Trombone) brought the program to life.

Audiences were treated to the premiere of These are the hands by composer Jaan Pallandi, a deeply personal work celebrating Sonia Wilson and Ashley Carter’s wedding. Moments like this are part of what makes these concerts so special. Music by Halvorsen and Schubert were also featured during the concert.

QSO cannot wait to share more chamber music favourites with audiences at Chamber Players 2 on Sunday 21 June and Chamber Players 3 on Sunday 4 October.

“Who would have thought to pair strings with a brass instrument? The married pair of QSO musicians, Sonia Wilson and Ashley Carter, do exactly that...Through a vivacious back and forth and interplay of conflict and harmony, the unlikely pairing find a unique combined voice.”
