Queensland Symphony Orchestra sets the tone for an exciting year ahead with their second Maestro series concert of 2026.

Under the direction of Riccardo Minasi, Queensland Symphony Orchestra treated audiences to an enchanting performance, featuring the works of Respighi, Higgins & Strauss, the second Maestro series concert of the year.

BBC Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Trombone Helen Vollam graced the QPAC Concert Hall stage as guest soloist, with the Australian premiere of British composer Gavin Higgins’ trombone concerto The Book of Miracles, which Vollam first performed at its world premiere at the Barbican in London in 2019.

After the interval, we embarked on a sonic journey through Richard StraussAus Italien, evoking the transcendent experience of Italy’s sun-drenched landscapes, from the sparkling shores of Sorrento to the echoes of ancient Rome.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Morning Masterworks and the Maestro Concerts. We cannot wait for you to join in the excitement of what’s to come in the year ahead.
