Curtain Call: The Music of John Williams

For one unforgettable weekend, the concert hall became a cinema of sound as we celebrated the incomparable music of John Williams.

Over two sold out concerts we honoured the musical genius of John Williams with an experience as epic as the films themselves.

Under the baton of the Nicholas Buc, the orchestra brought Williams' iconic scores to life - from the stirring beauty of Schindler's List to the thunderous rhythms of Indiana Jones.

It was a particular delight to surprise audiences with our first-ever performance of the irresistibly catchy Cantina Band theme from Star Wars. Seeing so many faces light up was a reminder of just how powerful live music can be.

To everyone who joined us - thank you. Your energy, your applause, and your love of the movies made these concerts an experience to treasure.

Missed out? Don't worry - This concert was recorded by ABC Classic for broadcast at 12pm on 21 March 2026.

“I’m not a music scholar. I’m someone who loves movies. Yet sitting there, listening closely, I felt newly aware of the skill required to bring these scores to life.”

–Elizabeth Best, Embrace Brisbane

“The Queensland Symphony Orchestra has again created a journey as much about memory as music, making its sold-out shows absolutely understandable.”

–Meredith Walker, Blue Curtains Brisbane

“(Schindler’s List) features an incredibly complex violin solo that Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Concertmaster Glenn Christensen perfectly executes; his performance is beyond outstanding.”

–Isabella Visser, The Scoop

“Another spectacular offering from Queensland Symphony Orchestra and another stellar reason to take a trip down memory lane.”

–Eden Bryant, Australian Stage
