Cassandra Seidemann
Mezzo-soprano

Australian/German mezzo-soprano Cassandra Seidemann has featured extensively on both stage and screen, performing across Australia, Asia, and New Zealand. She is a favourite with audiences for her versatility in opera, concert, and musical theatre.
Recent performances include Rossweisse in the Singapore premiere of Die Walküre, Bradamante in National Opera’s Alcina, and appearances in Opera Queensland’s productions of A Flow’ring Tree, Tosca, and Orfeo. She has also appeared with the Tasmanian, Sydney, and Queensland Symphony Orchestras, Queensland Baroque, Festival of Voices Hobart, and the Queensland Pops Orchestra. Her concert engagements span Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. Upcoming performances in 2025 include solo appearances with both the Sydney and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.
Cassandra’s long-standing relationship with Opera Queensland began with their Young Artist Program, where she appeared as the Second Bridesmaid in The Marriage of Figaro and covered Hansel in Hansel and Gretel. She has since performed and covered roles including Olga (The Merry Widow), Wowkle (La fanciulla del West), Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), Flora (La traviata), and both Kate Pinkerton and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly).
She has also sung the title role in Carmen with Sydney Philharmonia, appeared at the Sydney Opera House for a Chinese New Year Gala, and performed with electronic music legends Jeff Mills and Derrick May alongside the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
On screen, she has featured in numerous television broadcasts and commercials, including Carols in the Domain and Lord Mayor’s Carols in the City, and appeared as Mary in the short film Jade.
Her musical theatre credits include Pitti-Sing (The Mikado), Gwendolen Fairfax (The Importance of Being Earnest), Tessa (The Gondoliers), and Laurey (Oklahoma!). She has performed major alto solos in works by Handel, Vivaldi, Bach, Schubert, and Mozart.
Cassandra graduated with honours from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Music (Opera Performance).
