In demand as both a performer and a composer, Double Bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer has formed a role in the music world unlike any other. Hailed by The New Yorker as ‘...the most remarkable virtuoso… of his instrument’, Mr. Meyer is widely appreciated for his unparalleled technique and musicianship in combination with his gift for composition.
As a solo classical bassist, Mr. Meyer has performed together with the world’s leading soloists, conductors and orchestras and can be heard on a numerous albums.
His compositions have been widely performed, most recently his Double Concerto for Double Bass and Violin (World premiere in July 2012 with Joshua Bell and the Boston Symphony Orchestra). He also wrote two Double Bass concertos and chamber music works with various instrumentations.
