Laura Cliff

Sydney-born flautist Laura Cliff received her Bachelor of Music in Performance and Postgraduate Certificate in Performance at Queensland Conservatorium, studying with Virginia Taylor. She went on to study at the Australian National Academy of Music with Alison Mitchell and was awarded the Nick Deutsch Prize for Most Outstanding First-Year Musician. Returning to Sydney in 2024, Laura was the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Flute Fellow, regularly performing with them on the Opera House Concert Hall Stage.

Laura is a casual musician with the Queensland, Tasmanian and Sydney Symphony Orchestras and Orchestra Victoria, and has performed with Auckland Philharmonia, Opera Australia and the Melbourne and West Australian Symphony Orchestras.

She won the NSW Flute Society Open Age Competition in 2017 and the Queensland Flute Guild’s James Carson Memorial Prize in 2021.

Laura particularly loves performing in orchestral and chamber settings, sharing stories and experiences through music, and challenging and inspiring her audience with the hope that it helps develop their love and connection with music.
