Hailed as one of the most passionate conductors of his generation, Pablo González recently completed his four-years longtermas the Principal Conductor of the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (RTVE) and Artistic Adviser to the Orchestra and Choir. Pablo previously served as Music Director of the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona I Nacional de Catalunya (10/15).
Pablo's tenure in Madrid was characterized by the diversity of the repertoire, including the cycles: 'Music under suspicion', focusing on soviet composers under Stalin's rule, 'Echoes of the Belle Époque', which culminated with a highly praised semi-staged performance of Bizet's' Carmen', ' Musical revolutions' and 'Roots', an exploration of the influence of folk elements in XIX and XXth century orchestral repertoire. Berlioz, Mahler and Szymanowski received special attention, as well as well-established and emerging Spanish contemporary composers. Full Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms cycles were also accomplished during these years.
Russian and German symphonic repertoire of 19thand 20thcenturiesfeatures most prominently among Pablo’s core repertoire. He has received widespread acclaim from audiences and critics or his interpretation of music by Mahler, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, Schumann and Brahms. Pablo has also delivered passionate interpretations of symphonic works by Szymanowski, Nielsen, Dvořák and Berlioz.
Pablo enjoys a flourishing guest conducting career and has established close relationships with, among others, the Helsinki Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonie, Stavanger Symphony, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern ,Bochum Symphony, Residentie Orchestra in the Hague and Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana.
Recent and future season highlights included returns to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra and Dresden Philharmonie, with which he lead a widely acclaimed Spanish tour in January 2024, as well as debuts with NDR Hannover, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano and Romanian Radio Orchestra. His Philharmonie de Paris debut with the Orchestre National d’Ile de France prompted an immediate reinvitation, scheduled for spring 2025. Other recent debuts include New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Strasbourg Philharmonic.
Recently Pablo has also collaborated with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester Baseland Lahti Symphony in Finland. In Germany, Pablo enjoyed debuts and return visits with some of Germany’s foremost symphony orchestras,including Konzerthausorchester Berlin,Dresden Philharmonie,Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Hamburg Symphony,Gürzenich-Orchester KölnandStuttgart Staatsorchester.Other notable highlights include Auckland Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Belgium, BBC Philharmonic and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra
