Originally from Townsville, Rebecca Cassidy has been described as “A lovely, rich soprano agile with excellent top notes, demonstrating a range of colours…” (Limelight)
Rebecca studied her Bachelor of Music at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) and has been the recipient of awards and scholarships including QCGU’s Wagner Prize and the Trinity College London Exhibition Award. In addition to her major operatic roles, Rebecca’s concert repertoire includes Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Handel’s Saul, Britten’s War Requiem, Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs, and Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony. She has also performed as a featured soloist with Southern Cross Soloists.
For Opera Queensland (OQ), Rebecca was given the honour of being the first artist named to relaunch their new Young Artist program in 2020. Rebecca’s recent engagements include the understudy of Isolde in Tristan und Isolde together with featured solo roles in the touring production Songs to Die For (directed by Patrick Nolan), Shakespearean Classics with Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO), Queensland Music Festival’s Opera at Jimbour with EnsembleQ.
Most recently she joined the cast of OQ’s VERDI concert in QPAC’s Concert Hall with QSO and Johannes Fritzsch, and as a guest artist for SKYFALL with the Little Red Company.
