Graeme Morton
Choral Director
Graeme Morton AM is the founding Director of Brisbane Chamber Choir, Senior Lecturer and Choral Conducting Fellow at The University of Queensland, and the Director of Music at St John’s Anglican Cathedral, Brisbane.
He is the former Director of Music at St Peters Lutheran College, where he founded the St Peters Chorale – an ensemble he had the pleasure of conducting for over 25 years.
Never tiring to pursue exciting new choral works for his singers and their audiences alike, he is responsible for commissioning and recording many works now regarded as Australian choral classics. He tours and lectures on choral conducting within Australia, and internationally, where his support for the Australian choral voice is unabated.
As a Churchill Fellow he has observed choral leadership in both the United States and Canada. He is a recipient of a Prime Minister’s Medal and in 2011 of the Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Cultural Award. Graeme holds a Master of Music (Organ) from The University of Queensland, and as a composer, is published by Augsburg Fortress, Kjos Music, and Morton Music.
